Intro to MRI

Catalog description

This course introduces the principles and applications of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), a vital tool in medical diagnostics and biomedical research. Topics include MRI signal generation, spatial encoding, image reconstruction, contrast mechanisms, and biomedical applications. Advanced techniques such as functional MRI (fMRI) and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) are also explored. Students will gain a foundational understanding of MRI technology and its role in healthcare and scientific discovery. This course is the same as BE 460 , and course repeat rules will apply. Students should consult with their major department regarding any restrictions on their degree requirements.
