This course analyzes the costs and benefits of the government sector and taxation. Expenditure topics include public goods, public production of private goods, externalities, the Coase theorem, and cost-benefit analysis. Revenue topics include tax incidence, neutrality, revenue productivity, and equity of alternative taxes.
