Painting The Mediated Image

Catalog description

In this themed painting course we will explore how painting might serve as a lens through which to view and respond to the digital world. An emphasis will be placed on exploration of individual interests; students will choose a subject to research (i.e. digital aesthetics, computer graphics, photography, video, gaming, automation, social media, digital culture, privacy, identity, online shopping, etc) and will work on painting projects related to their chosen topics. The course introduces photo-silkscreen, digital painting and printing, and image transfer techniques into experimental painting-based studio practices. Course is restricted to Visual Art concentrators or by permission of the instructor.
