Catalog description

This hands-on course teaches foundational skills in data analysis and programming using R. Students will learn to summarize and visualize data, implement statistical analyses, and produce reproducible reports with Quarto. Key topics include understanding the base data structures in R, simulating from probability distributions, conducting an exploratory data analysis, implementing hypothesis testing, and larger programming structures such as loops and functions. The course also focuses on writing clean, understandable, and modular code by employing good coding practices. Students will gain experience in designing code to build an end-to-end data analysis pipeline. This course is taught as a flipped course.
