Survey Methods for Public Opinion & Health

Catalog description

This course introduces concepts in survey design and analysis, with a focus on measuring the public’s sentiment on current topics in health and politics. It is designed to equip students with the theoretical and methodological toolkit necessary to understand and critique publicly-available survey data and polls. Students will learn to rigorously evaluate public opinion on rapidly evolving, newsworthy topics and identify common challenges in accurately reporting statistical insights. This course is intended for PHP and STAT concentrators with an interest in survey methodology and its intersection with current events, including topics in health and politics. It is also relevant for students in APMA or ECON, as well as quantitatively-inclined SOC and POLS concentrators.
