Catalog description

Intensive use of expressive and receptive skills, with a focus on advanced linguistic structures, will be introduced and practiced. Colloquial and discourse features are also explored. The course emphasized advanced structures and classifiers, as well as complex grammatical forms across various registers and setting, including advanced presentation and storytelling techniques. Current events are discussed in American Sign Language, providing students with opportunities to apply their linguistic cultural knowledge while engaging in open discussions. Through authentic materials from diverse sources, students will explore the depth of American Sign Language literature. Prerequisite SIGN0500 or placement interview. Enrollment limited to 18.
