Political Psychology

Catalog description

This graduate seminar provides an overview of the intersection of political psychology and international relations. The course is designed to help familiarize you with some of the debates in the field and introduce you to material you might have not encountered elsewhere, with the goal of opening up new lines of inquiry, and providing inspiration for future research. We will cover foundational works in social psychology that provide a basis for the psychological work in IR. We will also examine classic works in IR that draw on psychological approaches, because the history is important for understanding the development of the field. We will then investigate current works in IR that draw on psychological approaches. Finally, we will explore cutting edge research in social psychology with an eye toward future applications.
