Relations between the United States and China are one of the most important aspects of international politics in the modern world. This undergraduate seminar explores the dramatic changes in US-China relations since the Cold War through the lens of political science. The seminar briefly exposes students to theories of competition and cooperation and historical background on US-China relations. The bulk of the course offers students an in-depth examination of the evolution of the bilateral relationship from 1989 to the present. The readings feature a range of primary sources from both the United States and China, while class discussions will host guest speakers who participated in the events under examination.
