To explore histories of health, disease and global public health actions in Lusophone Africa: Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau. A broad approach to health considers sociocultural, economic, political and environmental factors. The anthropological take draws students’ attention to the existing links between global structures, historical processes and power relations and patterns of ill-heath, epidemics and biomedical responses or research in urban areas or in remote African villages in this part of the global south (c.1880s-2015). It unveils a century-old (western) morality underlying in public health programs, eradication visions, humanitarian actions, development discourses, security preparedness or other global health actions/mantras.
