PHYS 1970F
Quantum Information
Brown University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Quantum information is the modern study of how to encode and transmit information on the quantum scale in many ways fundamentally different from classical information. This course will connect a standard treatment of Quantum mechanics with information theory. The first part of the course will focus on the quantum gates and universal sets, and how it is used for quantum computation. Then the question of measurements and control of quantum states in order to perform quantum computation will be addressed. The actual problems and limitations will be discussed and an introduction to quantum error correction will be given. To finish the course, the subject of quantum sensing will be introduced and its link with quantum information.
