Do you like to read novels and discuss the ethical issues they raise? In this seminar we will discuss 20th-century and 21st-century novels as well as the 15th-century writer Sir Thomas Malory in terms of ethical issues involving love, friendship, envy, deterioration, death, courage, pride, faith, integrity, betrayal, responsibility to others, revenge, justice, and mercy. How can such discussions offer fresh perspectives on fiction as well as on ethical issues? The seminar is open to all students who want to explore this question; no philosophy background is required. It an in-person seminar whose sessions can also be accessed via Zoom if necessary. All sessions will be recorded for asynchronous access as well.
