Contemporary Ethical Issues

Catalog description
Are we obligated to make sacrifices for the common good? Do we have moral obligations toward nature, animals, other people, and future generations? Is abortion morally wrong? Is euthanasia permissible? Should everyone become a vegan? Is the death penalty ever just? In this course we will explore these and other contemporary ethical issues in the context of important moral theories; utilitarianism, virtue ethics, Kant’s view, and the social contract theory.
