Catalog description

Active behavior is the product of many body systems and cell types, beyond just the neurons of the brain. In this course, we will systematically discuss how these many systems act dynamically to create real-time perception, action, choice and learning. We will discuss multiple distinct ways biological networks can create this impact. A key focus will be understanding ways non-neural systems collaborate, co-opt or supersede neural circuits. We will also consider how embodiment in micro- and macro-level systems (molecular, evolutionary, environmental) directly impact ongoing behavior.
