Catalog description

Teaching Neuroscience is a 0.5 credit course designed to help teaching assistants for neuroscience courses learn best practices in teaching, supporting student learning, and creating inclusive and equitable learning spaces. Topics will include: evidenced-based pedagogies, high-impact practices, and inclusive pedagogies; active learning; assessments and assessment feedback; communication skills; teaching in the age of AI; and the use of reflective practices for both instructors and students. The course is primarily discussion-based. Course assignments include, but are not limited to, reflective journaling, developing a teaching philosophy statement, and completing a final project. The course is only offered with an S/NC grading designation.
