Catalog description

This course introduces students to the central topics in, and major approaches to the field of international security. The course examines threats to security that arise within and between states as well as potential strategies that states and international organizations may take to prevent or resolve these threats. The topics span a range of issues related to military force, the economy, politics, and diplomacy, as well as domestic and international institutions, among other things. Through the course, students will develop the tools to analyze, design, evaluate, and communicate effectively policy solutions on security-related issues.
