The Human Rights and AI seminar explores the complex, rapidly evolving landscape of AI and its profound impacts on human rights at the intersection of technology, public policy, and international law. Will AI hollow out our civil and human rights through invisible, automated systems that surveil, sort, and silence? Can AI serve liberation and justice if shaped, designed, and deployed from a rights-respecting framework? We will critically analyze both the harms and opportunities that AI poses to fundamental rights, and if civil and human rights laws and frameworks are relevant to responsible AI governance.
