MPA 2015
Strategic Communication for the World We Live In Now
Brown University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course provides students with insights and training on how to effectively communicate about policy, up to date for America in 2025, with our polarized politics and fragmented media. We’ll work on how effective messages are created and framed, why we respond to messages the way we do, and how to employ advocacy and communications strategies to advance political and public policy goals. In addition, the course aims to give students practical experience in integrating communications into advocacy—not just honing methods, but weighing which to use, and how. No effort as the time or capacity to include everything, of course, so throughout the course we will discuss the tradeoffs inherently involved, and how to maximize effectiveness despite them.
