This is a theory-driven course on directing as a critical practice: not the delivery of messages, but the organization of conditions under which reality becomes legible, unstable, and ethically demanding. The course begins with theatre because it makes visible—in real time and shared space—the relation between bodies, language, power, and spectatorship. Then it moves to cinema and literature, treating all three not as separate disciplines but as distinct ways of constructing attention, framing experience, and producing knowledge. The course mobilizes critical theory, philosophy, and psychoanalysis not as abstract systems but as working tools: lenses through which we read how a play constructs a law, how a film produces belief, how a narrative assigns or withdraws identity, how an image implicates the one who looks. This course proposes directing not simply as a theatrical profession but as a way of thinking.
