Intermediate Italian I

Catalog description
In this intermediate course we will draw on multiple authentic materials - short stories, songs, newspaper articles, movies - to place the language in a contemporary cultural context. By the end of the semester, you will have gained mid- to high-intermediate level of language proficiency. You will be able to communicate with greater fluency; you will be able to express your opinion on a variety of issues and defend your positions: you will have acquired a deeper and more sophisticated understanding of Italian cultural practices and products; you will be able to read and comprehend a wide variety of authentic texts. Stress on oral interaction in class plus weekly compositions, presentations, and a final paper. Prerequisites: ITAL0200 or ITAL0110, or placement by examination. Required for enrollment in the Brown-in-Bologna program.
