Catalog description

In January 1959, the forces of rebel leader Fidel Castro entered Havana and forever altered the destiny of their nation and world. This seminar will consider the six decades that followed the rise of a new revolutionary order, as well as its global repercussions. We will examine how political hegemony was achieved as well as the silences and exclusions on which it rested, with particular attention to ideology, race, sexuality, and culture.
