Catalog description
This is a writing-intensive (WRIT) course that examines the intersection of biography and history. We will focus on 17th to 19th c. North America and read studies of a First Nations convert to French Catholicism, a renegade Puritan woman, an enslaved African American who escaped from George Washington, a Revolutionary-era artist, a 19th c. lesbian couple, and a Civil War spy. Students will also research and write their own historical-biographical essays.
