A Taste of Barcelona: Exploring Culture, Art and Community
Brown University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Students in this asynchronous/online course will explore Barcelona through the lenses of culture, history and heritage. They will be able to also immerse themselves into the Catalan culture, which is internationally renowned in many fields like cinema, literature, music, theatre, gastronomy, sports, art and architecture. Catalan and Spanish are the two official languages in Barcelona, and its residents consider themselves fully bilingual, so this course will also provide students some basic communicative skills to help them navigate better in the capital city of Catalonia. This is a great opportunity also for students considering studying abroad in Barcelona in the future (the course is offered in English and Spanish is not required).
