Courses at the 500 level advance students’ Spanish language skills through engagement with a wide range of authentic materials (literary and non-fiction texts, film, podcasts, and more), preparatory individual work for class discussion, and projects completed outside of class, while expanding and refining their knowledge of the Spanish language system. HISP0500B focuses on Spanish language use in health and wellness contexts, exploring cultural perspectives, common practices, and strategies for communicating effectively about health. Students examine how health and wellness are understood in Spanish-speaking communities and develop linguistic skills needed to engage in meaningful, culturally informed interactions promoting healthier outcomes. Enrollment limited to 15; 12 spaces available during pre-registration, 3 additional spaces available at start of semester.
