Catalog description
A continuation of HISP 0100 , focusing on acquisition of communicative skills (speaking, listening comprehension, reading, writing) as well as cultural awareness. With successful completion of the course students can carry on short spontaneous conversations and comprehend and produce simple texts involving everyday topics (such as modern day life and its pressures, health, art and culture, nature and the environment, relationships) with good command of grammar and sentence structure. Individual work outside of class (averaging one hour/day) prepares students for in-class activities focused on authentic communication. An additional conversation section (one hour/week) is required. Placement: HISP 0100 , Brown placement score of 281 - 380. Students should check Placement/Course Description in the Undergraduate Program section of the Hispanic Studies website. Enrollment limited to 15; 12 spaces available during pre-registration, 3 additional spaces available at the start of the semester.
