GREK 1060 reflects on tyranny, democracy, and oligarchy under the critical eye of the Old Oligarch ([Xenophon] Constitution of the Athenians and Xenophon's Hieron, Constitution of the Spartans, and Poroi. This advanced Greek language and literature course enhances participants' knowledge and understanding of Greek, develops an appreciation of important themes and current research into Xenophon and his minor works, and improves the student's capacity to translate and comment on ancient Greek text. Assessment is by a combination of translation, commentary, essay assignments, and examinations.
