ENGN 2912E
Low Power VLSI System Design
Brown University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Integrated circuits drive today’s technology, from smartphones to AI and supercomputers. This course explores key design challenges such as power, timing, interconnects, and noise, along with innovative solutions such as adaptive and energy-recovery techniques. Through lectures, labs, and a team-based project, students will gain advanced hands-on experience across the digital design flow, from Verilog and simulation to layout and verification. By the end of the semester, students will have the foundation to tackle advanced chip design, whether in digital systems, custom circuits or system-on-chip integration, while building skills highly valued in both research and industry. Note: There is an option to tapeout in GF 180nm as part of this class.
