The Politics of Perspective: Post-war British Fiction

Catalog description

Offers an overview of British fiction from the last 50 years in order to consider how Englishness, as (i) a set of images and (ii) a mode of looking, has changed. The course covers 3 distinct periods (post-War period, Thatcherism, the New Labour epoch and beyond) and, is intended as an introduction to theories of culture, ideology and literary analysis and to some of the most important British writers of the last fifty years.
