Graduate Core Module: Moral Psychology

Catalog description

Moral psychology is the interdisciplinary science of morality. But morality is not a single phenomenon—it is a set of phenomena that have emerged in human evolution to support successful group living. Morality encompasses six major ingredients, and we will dedicate one week to each of them: Norms and values, (im)moral behavior, moral judgments, moral regulation, moral emotions, and moral communication. Throughout, we will explore both the social structures and the cognitive capacities that enable morality. Each week, we will have one lecture and two seminar sessions, with readings from a new textbook and numerous empirical and theoretical articles.
