The natural philosophy, metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics of the principal figures in ancient philosophy from the Pre-Socratics to Aristotle. Emphasis is given to understanding the problems the philosophers were trying to solve and to assessing the arguments for their various positions. Primary readings are from the original sources in translation. No prerequisites.
