Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Disability and Death in the Global South

Catalog description

This course is a seminar for students interested in global health and it also counts as a global health selective course for undergraduate. Topics include the evolution of global health, how a simple solution saved millions of children, why pregnancy remains a leading cause of death for women in low-income countries, the role of equity in achieving better health outcomes, and how leveraging technology can promote improved health outcomes. A series of guest lecturers with diverse backgrounds and global health experience will join us on a journey to foster critical and integrative thinking and writing about the leading causes of illness, disability, and death in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), as well as potential solutions to prevent and alleviate the burden of diseases.
