Effective Communication in Networked Information Ecosystem

Catalog description
This course, which was designed for MPH students and advanced undergraduates, will provide a comprehensive understanding of the ways in which the contemporary information environment has impacted the production, consumption and dissemination of information. This course considers the good, bad and ugly when it comes to the contemporary information environment, providing a thorough theoretical grounding as well as practical training for effective communication, whether it’s talking to your conspiratorial uncle around the dinner table, disseminating a new piece of research, or launching a population level health behavior change campaign. The course will draw from a range of case studies from the past few years, as well as bringing in real-time examples as the course progresses.
