Genetic Control of Cell Fate Decisions

Brown University · UGRD · Fall 2026

Catalog description

A cell's fate is acquired in a process whereby largely uncommitted progenitor cells are instructed down a committment path that ultimately results in a specific cell type with distinct molecular and physiological properties. This process is critical for the establishment of all cell types and tissues and is poised to be a critical topic in cell-based therapeutic strategies. We will investigate the intrinsic and extrinsic mechanisms that manifest at the genetic level to impart cell fate decisions on progenitors. Advanced undergraduates with permission of the instructor.
