Catalog description

How to Tell the Truth: Documentary Screenwriting is an in-person workshop with weekly assignments intended to build a foundation in research methods and writing for documentary film. Nonfiction film utilizes the development of compelling subjects and propelling structure akin to its counterpart, the fiction film. Because documentary deals with actual people and actual situations there is an understanding that pre-writing is conditional. Real events, real people, real locations are dynamic and documentary production honors this above any script. This is not a production course, the work produced will focus on conceptual proposals and treatments.
