Catalog description

The history of black music is a rich and diverse tapestry, spanning centuries and continents. In this course, students will explore the history of black music through a variety of lenses, including its social and cultural context, its technical and stylistic innovations, and its impact on contemporary music. Students will also have the opportunity to develop their ensemble instrumental skills through workshops and performance opportunities.
