Anthropology of Things: Culture and Circulation of Commodities

Catalog description

We will examine familiar things from unfamiliar angles—and across time—where we will learn how commodities connect people and places historically, and why those connections continue to matter in the present. You will produce a field-based analysis of a commodity of your choice, gaining practical experience in ethnographic observation, data interpretation, and critical analysis of how commodities circulate, acquire value, and shape everyday life.
