Explores the complexity of the American experience, the displacements and diasporas of the Vietnamese, the Cambodians, the Hmong, the Lao, and the Iu Mien in America through multiplicity of perspectives and interdisciplinary approach. Special emphases are on the reinvention of new lives in New World, the American-born generation, how the American-ness and the sense of "home" are constructed, defined, and contested through literary and cinematic works, self-representations, and cultural productions written and produced by these new Asian Americans themselves.
