Catalog description

Today's women workers migrate at a historically unprecedented rate. This class looks at Third World women who migrate for work in global cities. We examine their experiences through the intersectional lens of gender, race, class, and nationality. We also question the social, political, and economic forces that drive migration and draw women workers to specific destinations. Finally, we will look at the multiple inequalities these workers confront and the ways in which they negotiate and challenge them. Enrollment limited to 17 first year students and sophomores.
