Comparative Government

Catalog description

This course is a comparative analysis of the political culture, governmental structure, political systems, and public policies of selected Western and non-Western nations. It examines the historical origin and political culture of each nation, the institutions of government, political parties and elections, and current governmental policies and challenges. Students develop the ability to think, read, and write critically and analytically and to understand the various forms of human interaction through an analysis of selected Western and non-Western governments. This course aids students in their efforts to understand the principles of group behavior and social organizations, how power is wielded in society, and the responsibilities and rights of the individual in human society. Prerequisite(s): A passing score on the college's reading and writing placement tests, or C or better or concurrent enrollment in ENG 091 or ENG 092. Three class hours a week.Gen. Ed.
