Catalog description

A survey of the seminal authors who wrote in English from the medieval period to the mid-eighteenth century such as Chaucer, Shakespeare, Donne, Milton, Congreve and Swift. Besides the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Enlightenment are studied for their generic developments (in comedy, lyric and satire) and their cultural history. Some emphasis on reading aloud.
