SPED 435
Senior Practicum
Brigham Young University-Idaho · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course is designed for ECSE and SPED K12 majors. Students will transform from students to teachers of children. They will serve in a public school classroom two full days and attend two-hour seminars each week. Students will design and implement a unit of instruction, teach and manage a class, complete special education tasks, set weekly goals, and reflect on personal and professional growth. These experiences facilitate the process of becoming an educator; the more students engage, the more meaningful and effective this process becomes. Students will create and build relationships with classmates, a mentor teacher, university instructors, and the children in their class. Relationships are enhanced as students strive to have the Spirit and help others feel the Savior's light and love. Students will put into practice all they've learned in previous courses and experiences to teach in the Savior's way.
