SPED 410
SPED Focused Practicum
Brigham Young University-Idaho · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Prospective special education teachers will receive practical, first-hand experience working with a special education teacher in a public-school setting. Opportunities for engaging in both formal and informal assessment activities, designing individualized curriculum, accommodating the general education curriculum, monitoring student progress, and collaborating with other professionals and families will be embedded within the practicum experience. A weekly two-hour seminar will serve as the forum in which teacher candidates can address challenges and concerns while sharing experiences, expertise and successes. SPED 410 teacher candidates will provide instruction to special education students at designated schools in the Jefferson, Madison, Idaho Falls and Sugar-Salem School Districts.
