Catalog description

Prospective special education teachers will explore methods, strategies, and accommodations for teaching students with emotional and behavioral disorders. Cognitive, social, and learning characteristics of students with emotional and behavioral disorders will be identified. Teacher candidates focus on aspects of a positive classroom environment and supporting students in crisis. Using assessment, specific plans, and de-escalation techniques, students explore interventions to help children learn at the highest possible level within their abilities.
