Catalog description

An in-depth examination of special education law, including the policies and procedures implemented in public education. IDEA, Section 504 and ADA will be compared and applied to the school setting. The six basic principles of disability law and their implementation in special education are covered, including student disciplinary procedures, bullying, extended school year, etc. Teacher candidates will learn their role in ensuring that legal rights and responsibilities of students with disabilities, their parents, and teachers are protected.
