This course explores the intersection of recreation, accessibility, and inclusion. As future recreation professionals, students will gain essential knowledge and skills to create welcoming and equitable recreational environments for all individuals, including those with disabilities. The course delves into legal frameworks, societal attitudes, historical context, and practical strategies to foster inclusive spaces. By the end of this course, students will be prepared to advocate for accessibility, challenge stereotypes, and promote a sense of belonging in recreational settings. Note: Students are required to obtain practicum hours for the course; it is highly recommended to register for RM 240L, as this lab opportunity will help students obtain the required practicum hours. Students may obtain alternate practicum hours through an approval process.
