Intro to Comparative Politics

Catalog description

This course challenges preconceived notions about the proper role of government. Employing comparative methods, we examine the strengths and weaknesses of different ways of organizing government, paying special attention to the interaction of political, economic, and social structures within various countries. Students will develop skills that will help them 1) to understand why governments behave as they do, 2) to analyze the effectiveness of political structures and behaviors, and 3) to propose policies a government might adopt to address domestic or international issues.
