Population Health Nursing

Catalog description

This course provides a solid foundation in community and public health nursing concepts; interventions for individuals, families, and communities; health promotion; and the multifaceted role of the community-oriented nurse. The focus is on developing competence in assessing the needs of a population, developing and implementing appropriate interventions and evaluating their effectiveness. Students also care for individual clients within a community setting, such as home health and hospital care, with particular attention to strategies to support patients as they transition from one level of care to another; health nursing concepts; interventions for individuals, families, and communities; health promotion; and the multifaceted role of the community-oriented nurse. The focus is on developing competence in assessing the needs of a population, developing and implementing appropriate interventions and evaluating their effectiveness.
