Fundamentals of Nursing

Catalog description

Fundamentals of Nursing is a face-to-face course with classroom activities that introduce the foundations of nursing practice, beginning with evidence-based nursing practice, nursing roles, and basic legal and ethical principles of care. Students use the nursing process as a framework to develop, implement, and evaluate culturally competent care for patients related to concepts of: comfort, death and loss, elimination, fluid and electrolytes, hygiene, infection control and asepsis, mobility, sleep and rest, nutrition, oxygenation and acid base balance, pain, safety and quality, sensory alterations, skin integrity and wound care, stress and coping, the surgical patient.
