Collaborative Piano

Catalog description
This is a course designed for piano music majors and qualified non-majors for the improvement of duet/duo, vocal, and instrumental collaboration skills. The emphasis on the course is on the accompanying with use of piano duet/duo literature to augment abilities in accompanying, critical listening and ensemble. The course is divided into three units: 1) duet/duo ensemble, 2) vocal accompanying, and 3) instrumental accompanying. Each of these three areas are taught in coaching and master class format. The course also includes reading assignments related to particular aspects of ensemble playing. Auditing may be allowed with instructor approval.
