String Chamber - Sinfonietta

Catalog description
This course focuses on a variety of small ensemble experiences for string students, including trios, quartets, quintets, etc. . . as well as chamber orchestra depending on enrollment and music department performance schedule. Collaborations with wind, brass, and keyboard students are also possible. Students are expected to prepare their own parts and rehearse as an ensemble out of class in addition to two hours of weekly class time. The course includes regular faculty coaching and one to two performances each semester. The chamber orchestra component (Sinfonietta) tours domestically or internationally on alternate years. Auditing may be allowed with instructor approval.
