Catalog description
This course addresses the basics of functional harmony, including chord spelling (triads and sevenths), cadences, progressions and substitutions, voice leading, and theoretical concepts that aid the student in the understanding of music. Students will acquire the ability to use solfege as well as develop critical listening skills. Students must pass the entrance exam at the beginning of the semester in order to continue with the course.
